This is an excellent opportunity for a driven financial risk professional to join the Aviva Insurance Limited (AIL) Enterprise Risk team for a 12‑month maternity cover role. If you combine a strong understanding of financial risks with expertise in risk management frameworks, bring an inquisitive mindset and thrive on developing holistic risk aggregations that genuinely inform and shape business decisions, we would be excited to hear from you! A bit about the job:

In this role, you’ll lead the annual review of AIL’s financial‑risk appetites, tolerances, triggers and limits—ensuring they remain appropriate, embedded and aligned to an evolving risk profile. You’ll oversee key market, credit, liquidity and capital risks, support the development and maintenance of risk frameworks, and deliver high‑quality, insightful financial‑risk reporting and aggregations that directly inform senior decisions. You will work closely with colleagues across GI (General Insurance) Finance, Capital, Actuarial and the wider Risk Function to develop a holistic understanding of financial exposures and emerging interconnected risks. Your constructive challenge and expert insight will help ensure risks are well understood, well controlled and escalated appropriately. You’ll also support policy reviews and play an active role in broader AIL Enterprise Risk initiatives.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong understanding of financial risks (market, credit, liquidity, capital).
  • Solid knowledge of financial risk‑management frameworks, processes and methodologies within the Financial Services industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to produce holistic, insightful risk aggregations along with clear, concise communication with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Exceptional organisational capability and confidence managing multiple priorities along with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and core MS Office tools.
  • Sound judgement, independence and adaptability.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • National salary: circa £90,000, London salary: circa £110,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
