We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Actuarial Insurance Risk Manager to join our team. This role would be perfect for a highly motivated and technically astute General Insurance expert to join a varied, agile and visible team in driving and influencing the appropriate understanding and management of risks and opportunities across the insurance risk foundations within Aviva Insurance Limited’s (AIL) UK general insurance entity. Familiarity with GI insurance markets would be preferable but isn’t essential for this role.

Responsibilities Overview

You will be responsible for reviewing, challenging and catalysing improvements to the management and optimisation of insurance risk within AIL, with focus on one or more specialisms across pricing, reserving, exposure management, reinsurance, capital management or model risk. Reporting into the Head of Insurance risk, you will work closely with the AIL Chief Risk Officer, AIL Enterprise Risk Director, and the UKGI Risk business partners and will regularly engage with other key stakeholders across the Actuarial Function, Claims, Pricing & Underwriting. Providing an objective Risk view of insurance risks through developing risk opinions and leading risk deep dives is a key aspect of this role. This role ultimately supports AIL’s Chief Risk Officer to provide oversight across AIL, ensuring the continuing effectiveness of the Risk Management Framework.

Skills and Experience We’re Looking For

  • Actuarial, underwriting, pricing, and/or capital professional who is driven, curious, commercially minded and ready for a challenge. Actuarial, underwriting or accounting qualifications preferred or qualified by experience.
  • Good working knowledge and technical experience of one or more components of actuarial/insurance risk (including reserving, underwriting, pricing, capital modelling, reinsurance, exposure management, model risk), along with familiarity with relevant related enterprise, conduct and operational risk management ideally in general insurance.
  • Analytically minded with the ability to articulate difficult and complex issues precisely and concisely to senior stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Proven ability to review and appropriately challenge material business decisions, taking ownership of issues and building collaborative relationships across the three lines of defence.
  • Ability to spot emerging trends, potential risks and opportunities to the business with a clear articulation of the impact these might have on key performance metrics and risk appetites.
