A bit about the job: Help shape the future of retirement income at Aviva. We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Individual Annuities team – a business that plays a vital role in supporting customers through retirement by providing guaranteed income for life. With a target of £1.5bn PVNBP in 2026, this is an exciting time to make an impact. You’ll make expert underwriting decisions on complex Individual Annuities (IA) and Long-Term Care (LTC) cases, ensuring fair outcomes for customers and for Aviva. You’ll work closely with IA quotes teams, non‑advised sales, and reinsurers to deliver accurate, timely annuity quotes. You’ll also play a key role in developing colleagues and improving customer journeys and processes across the team.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Medical Underwriter with knowledge of Individual Annuities product features and underwriting processes preferred.
  • Strong understanding of complaints handling, breach procedures, GDPR and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • A natural mentor who role models Aviva’s values: Care, Community, Commitment, Confidence.
  • Customer‑focused with a sound understanding of risk management.

  • Salary: Circa £40,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
