A bit about the job:

  • You’ll deliver data change programmes driven by business and IT projects, helping to improve how we transform, structure and manage data across both structured and unstructured environments.
  • Working closely with data users, you’ll gather complex requirements and act as a key link between business teams and IT, ensuring solutions are practical and effective.
  • You’ll resolve complex issues, identify opportunities to improve engineering and testing approaches, and lead data migrations alongside day-to-day governance activities.
  • You’ll also review technical work, support the development of Data Engineers through training and mentoring, and share your expertise to build capability across the team.
  • Above all, you’ll play a key role in supporting good customer outcomes, helping us act in good faith, avoid foreseeable harm, and empower our customers to achieve their financial goals.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience working with ETL, data warehousing or big data solutions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and tools such as AWS Glue.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Scala.
  • Ability to translate technical and business needs into practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Starting salary circa £70,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
  • Bonus opportunity – 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
