A bit about the job: You’ll join one of our Thames Valley underwriting teams, working collaboratively to support both the Senior Underwriter and Team Manager in delivering financial targets. The role focuses on underwriting a range of risks, developing strong broker and customer relationships, and contributing to the delivery of a profitable portfolio. You’ll manage your own diary in a fast‑paced environment, balancing underwriting activity with broker engagement and market interaction. Alongside your underwriting responsibilities, you’ll also support the development of others within the team and continue to build your own technical capability, including working towards underwriting licence levels appropriate to your grade.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in underwriting, with property and liability experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to assess and analyse property and liability risks and communicate decisions clearly to brokers and/or customers
- Strong collaboration skills within a large, complex organisation
- Good knowledge of FCA requirements and other relevant insurance regulation
- Commercial acumen, with the ability to develop and deliver compelling business cases
Benefits:
- Starting salary between £45,000 and £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity – 8% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
- Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
