This role sits within Group Sustainability’s Environmental Centre of Excellence (ECoE) and is critical to the management of Aviva’s exposure to climate‑related risk, meeting the expectations of Aviva’s regulators and overall, helping Aviva deliver its Sustainability Ambition. Climate risk is a financial, strategic and operational issue, affecting financial performance, risk exposures & management, regulatory compliance and corporate reputation for example.

A bit about the job: The Prudential Regulation Authority’s SS5/25 requires firms to enhance how they manage climate risk and Aviva is responding with a multi‑year plan to drive action across the Group and its businesses. This includes embedding climate risk into frameworks, using scenario analysis to better understand risks, strengthening resilience and supporting informed strategic decision making. Emerging regulatory and reporting requirements will further rely on these capabilities and, as a result, this role is accountable for providing Group‑wide leadership on climate risk and plays a key role in regulatory engagement with the PRA. Working closely with Business Units and key Group functions, you will help shape and embed a consistent approach to climate risk management across Aviva.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in climate risk, sustainability, or financial risk management within a regulated environment (ideally insurance or financial services).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop scenario analysis to inform strategic decision-making and risk appetite.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g. PRA expectations, SS5/25, sustainability reporting standards) and their practical application.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across multiple functions (e.g. Risk, Finance, Capital Management).
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex climate risk concepts into clear, actionable insights.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Starting salary circa £130,000 (London), circa £100,000 (national) – (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications).
  • Bonus opportunity – 25% (F grade) of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
  • Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
  • Aviva‑funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it.
  • Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts.
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme.
  • Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave.
  • Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work.
  • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others.
  • We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools.
