Location: London based (50% hybrid working). This is an exciting opportunity to support the Aviva group across a number of key activities, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, valuation and strategic planning, amongst others.
You will be responsible for conducting financial analysis of potential acquisition candidates, managing transaction processes, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The acquisitions that the Corporate Development team execute are strategically important to the overall Aviva group and create financial value for the group’s shareholders.
A bit about the job: As a Senior Manager in our Corporate Development team, you’ll work closely with Business Unit leaders and a range of internal and external partners to help shape the deals and decisions that move our business forward. You’ll get hands‑on with transactions – from financial and commercial analysis to project management – and bring teams together across the Group to keep everything running smoothly. You’ll also play a key role in spotting what’s next: exploring strategic options, reviewing potential acquisitions or disposals, and supporting conversations that influence our future direction. Alongside this, you’ll dive into business and market research to give leaders the clarity they need, and help prepare the papers that go to our Board.
A big part of the job is making sure we always follow our risk and control standards, especially those linked to transactions. You’ll support the management of project budgets too, while more senior team members hold final accountability. You’ll be part of a small, experienced team of around six people, and while you won’t have direct reports right now, you’ll be a go‑to expert who helps others get to great outcomes.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong financial, technical and analytical skills, with an understanding of corporate finance concepts (such as discounted cashflow analysis and other valuation approaches).
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with sound business judgement.
- Good teamwork and social skills, with the ability to work well with other team members both within and outside the Corporate Development team.
- Ability to handle personal workload and deliver to deadlines, move fluidly across topics at pace and balance multiple and conflicting priorities and comfortable working in a demanding and challenging environment.
What you’ll get for this role:
- Salary circa £115,000 - £125,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications).
- Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
- Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
- 29 days holiday plus.
