Our Infrastructure Equity desk is seeking to hire an experienced investment associate. We are looking for a financially and commercially astute individual, with strong analytical, problem solving and numeracy skills. Advanced technical financial modelling and analysis skills are essential.

As one of Europe's largest real assets managers, we take an owner's approach to investment. From infrastructure to real estate and private debt, we make disciplined, high-conviction decisions that create long‐term value for clients and communities.

A bit about the job:

The role focuses on structuring, investing in and managing bespoke equity investments in the sustainable infrastructure and climate transition space across Europe. As an Associate in the team, you play an instrumental role in delivering the team's growth ambitions and will be responsible for providing day‐to‐day leadership, organisation, execution and mentorship to the junior team members. You will play a pivotal role in executing complex transactions, taking ownership of specific workstreams and deputising for the Director when needed, particularly in structuring, negotiation, and due diligence.

Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed financial, valuation, and strategic business analysis, supported by in‐depth industry research. You'll lead the screening and due diligence of potential opportunities, crafting high‐quality approval presentations that inform key investment decisions. Managing day‐to‐day workflows across transaction phases, you'll liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, guideline‐compliant delivery. You'll also support Directors in market engagement and origination efforts, contribute to research, build your own network of partners and targets, and deliver compelling investment presentations. Additionally, you'll collaborate with asset and fund managers and board directors to monitor and manage portfolio performance, while fostering strong relationships across all stakeholders. As a mentor and role model, you'll help cultivate a proactive, collaborative, and high‐performance culture within the team.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Infrastructure and energy M&A experience which will likely have been gained at a leading investment banking, boutique advisor or possibly another equity investor with demonstrable 'live deal' experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong planning and prioritisation skills with an ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, keeping visibility on urgency/importance and re‐adjusting prioritisation as needed.
  • A self‐starter with tenacity who is down‐to‐earth, straightforward, team orientated, hardworking and demonstrates good judgement.
  • A second European language is desirable.
  • Execution skills across investment research, analysis, structuring and negotiating financing and due diligence (commercial, financial, strategic, legal, technical).

What you'll get for this role:

  • Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus.
  • Family friendly parental and carer’s leave.
  • Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidays with the option to buy/sell up to five additional days.
  • Up to 40% discount for Aviva products.
  • Brilliant flexible benefits including electric cars.
  • Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme.
  • 21 volunteering hours per year.

In this role you'll be 'Certified' under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority's Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we'll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we'll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain 'fit and proper' and competent to carry out your role. We'll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.

Aviva is for everyone: We're inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don't, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares. We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working – spending around 50% of their time in our offices every week – combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
