A bit about the job: Within Aviva’s Customer & Marketing (C&M) function, the Data Governance & Management team safeguards, elevates and enables the responsible use of data so we can deliver better outcomes for customers and the business. We are passionate about driving trust, transparency and strong data foundations that allow innovation to flourish.
As the AI Data Governance Lead, you will play a central role in enabling Aviva’s AI strategy—ensuring that every AI and GenAI solution is delivered safely, transparently, and in line with our ethical, regulatory and data governance obligations. This is not a technical build role; it is about being the enabler that allows the organisation to innovate with confidence.
You will define and embed the governance, controls and assurance needed for responsible AI, ensuring that C&M can adopt AI at scale while protecting customers, colleagues and the brand. You will influence senior stakeholders, champion responsible AI culture, and drive clarity in fast‑moving environments. By shaping strong guardrails and enabling safe experimentation, you will be instrumental in helping Aviva unlock the full value of AI—securely, responsibly, and sustainably.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Proven experience leading data or AI governance in a regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of responsible AI, ethical standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR, UK data protection, FCA, EU/UK AI Act)
- Experience working with AI, model governance, risk, compliance or model validation
- Ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Strong relationship‑building skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders

Starting salary National: ÂŁ75,000 - ÂŁ85,000 / London: ÂŁ85,000 - ÂŁ95,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity – 12% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
