Aviva is seeking an experienced and commercially astute corporate lawyer to join our Group Corporate Finance Legal team. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the heart of a FTSE 100 organisation, providing legal guidance that directly contributes to the successful delivery of Aviva’s strategic objectives. This is a unique opportunity to engage with a broad and intellectually stimulating range of corporate legal matters in a supportive, collaborative environment that values thought leadership and integrity. A bit about the job: As a key member of the group legal team, you will provide high-quality legal advice on a variety of complex and strategically significant corporate matters. This includes, but is not limited to: Corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and corporate venturing. Capital management, banking, and financing arrangements. Legal aspects of corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Support for broader strategic initiatives within a regulated financial services context. You will work closely with senior internal stakeholders, including members of the Group Executive, as well as external counsel and advisers, offering pragmatic and commercially sensitive advice. The role also provides scope for continuous professional development, supported by a strong culture of collaboration and excellence across our legal community. Skills and experience we’re looking for: Substantial post-qualification experience in corporate law, ideally gained within a leading private practice and/or in-house at a regulated financial institution. A high level of technical proficiency in corporate law and governance. The ability to apply legal expertise with sound commercial judgment and strategic awareness. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex problems and solutions with clarity. What you’ll get for this role: Salary – National Circa £110,000 /London Circa £125,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications). Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary, actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s. Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in. 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
