The Business Analyst will play a key role in Aviva’s Health Evolution programme—an enterprise-wide initiative to re‑platform the Health technology stack. The programme aims to move away from ageing, highly customised mainframe-based systems toward a modern, scalable architecture centred on Salesforce as the primary system of engagement, supported by microservices and targeted data integrations.

This role focuses on understanding current operational processes, systems usage, and data flows across Health teams, ensuring the programme delivers incremental, realistic solutions rather than attempting a full end‑state rebuild from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Discovery & Analysis
    • Work directly with frontline teams, team leaders, and operational SMEs to understand:
    • Current processes and workflows
    • Pain points and system limitations
    • Key data inputs/outputs
    • How legacy systems (e.g., GMS mainframe) are used day‑to‑day
  • Document current-state processes and identify critical gaps, dependencies, and workarounds (including use of ECS tools and overlays).
  • Requirements Definition
    • Translate discovery outputs into clear, prioritised business requirements.
    • Support incremental change rather than recreating the entire business model in a single delivery.
    • Ensure requirements align with programme objectives: simplification, modernisation, and eventual migration off legacy platforms.
  • Solution Shaping & Collaboration
    • Collaborate with architects, product owners, Salesforce teams, and engineers to shape functional and non-functional requirements.
    • Provide clarity on business workflows to ensure Salesforce is correctly configured as a system of engagement.
    • Work with technical teams to define required integrations with legacy platforms during the transitional phase.
  • Delivery Support
    • Support preparation for build and delivery phases by ensuring user stories, acceptance criteria, and process maps are complete and accurate.
    • Participate in solution validation, testing support, and user feedback loops.
    • Assist in planning phased transitions toward new microservice-based architecture.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Essential
    • Strong experience working as a Business Analyst on large‑scale transformation or re‑platforming programmes.
    • Ability to map complex processes across multiple business teams and legacy systems.
    • Experience working with CRM or workflow systems (Salesforce is beneficial).
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with operational teams.
    • Ability to break down complex business operations into workable increments.
  • Desirable
    • Exposure to mainframe systems or large legacy platforms.
    • Experience within Health Insurance or a similar operationally complex environment.
    • Understanding of microservice architectures and modern integration patterns.

The Health Evolution programme is replacing legacy health applications, including GMS, a green-screen mainframe system that is stable but extremely rigid and costly to maintain. The programme intends to introduce Salesforce as a modern system of engagement, integrate with legacy systems initially, then migrate off them over time, and deliver change iteratively to avoid attempting a full “big bang” rebuild of the business.
