We are looking for the right individual to develop in an important Investment Risk oversight role in our 2nd line team. If you have an inquisitive and proactive nature, not willing to rest until issues are resolved and would like to apply your numerical and analytical skills on complex matters, this is the role for you!

A great opportunity to join a market leading investment risk oversight team in one of the UK’s biggest insurers. Due to business growth, we have a senior manager opportunity in the second line oversight of investment risk management of Aviva’s c£204bn of customer investment funds. The role will support the following team activities:

  • The role reports to the Head of Financial Risk Oversight.
  • You’ll be reviewing and challenging IWR’s management of investment risk from customer investment funds, including their approach to risk identification and measuring risk impacts.
  • You’ll be helping to ensure that first line are managing these risks in accordance with stated policies and Board approved risk appetite measures.
  • You’ll also carry out oversight of IWR’s approach and progress in achieving its climate and sustainability ambitions.
  • You’ll be responsible for researching initiatives and change that help to mitigate financial risks in a number of complex areas, including the rapidly growing auto-enrolment business.
  • Your role is to provide Risk’s independent opinion of the risk exposures, investment decisions and strategy, helping to advise the business on how best to manage and mitigate these exposures and also ensure that out-sourced fund managers are managing UKL investment risk effectively and with best practice.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A strong understanding of multi-asset funds, financial markets and climate risk considerations.
  • A high impact individual, who provides confident and credible challenge to stakeholders within the business including the Investment and Finance teams with the ability to present complex information in a straightforward and clear manner facilitating the right actions and responses.
  • Ability and drive to quickly acquire a deep understanding of the strategies, plans and performance in the relevant areas of Aviva’s Investment and Finance functions.
  • A general knowledge of statutory, legal and regulatory frameworks, risk management, corporate governance, and insurance company products, organisation and structures with the ability to contribute in a fluid and matrix style team structure.
  • This role may be suited to an individual with a professional qualification e.g. CFA / Qualified Actuary / Accountant, but these are not essential.

  • National salary: up to £95,500, London salary: up to £120,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
