Typically for this role you will be highly numerate, have a mathematical, science or data background and you will be keen to develop your skills further to become an expert data scientist. An exciting opportunity has arisen in our high-profile data science team delivering the future of insurance at Aviva through cutting-edge analytics. You’ll work with one of the richest insurance datasets in the world, applying sophisticated techniques and technology to all stages of the data science process. You’ll help to formulate problems, extract, and prepare data, apply modelling, and then deploy the solution. Aviva are investing in data science, machine learning and advanced analytics as a distinctive capability. The UK team is recognised as a centre of excellence in our Global Data Science Practice. Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Highly numerate and educated to degree or postgraduate (MSc) in a meaningful field - Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science
- Experience of solving complex non-routine problems; along with expertise in some, if not all, of the following areas: Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning & GenAI
- Experience at each process within data science, problem definition, data acquisition & wrangling, modelling, feature engineering and deployment
- Programming knowledge and a gift for coding using: Python, SQL, or Spark
- Capability to deliver projects, collaborate with operational teams and explain technical concepts to non-specialists
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary between £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity – 8% of annual salary - Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
