Salary: circa £70,000

Locations: Norwich/ Bristol/ York

About the Role

As Senior Performance Test Manager, you'll play a pivotal leadership role within a high‑performing technology team, shaping the future of performance testing across Aviva's critical business services. You'll define and drive the performance testing strategy, overseeing frameworks, governance, tooling, and best practices to ensure our systems are scalable, resilient, and production‑ready.

Working closely with technology and business stakeholders, you'll lead the planning and execution of performance testing activities, including load, stress, scalability, endurance, and peak testing. You'll be responsible for identifying performance bottlenecks early, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring customers receive reliable, high‑quality digital experiences.

This is an excellent opportunity for a performance testing leader who combines strong technical expertise with people leadership, stakeholder management, and a passion for building high‑performing teams and modern engineering practices.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Proven leadership of technical teams, with strong coaching, mentoring and capacity‑planning capabilities.
  • Deep expertise in performance‑testing disciplines: load, stress, peak, soak, scalability and endurance testing identifying risks and bottlenecks early to avoid rework, delays and unnecessary spend.
  • Strong understanding of performance‑engineering tooling, frameworks, analysis and optimisation techniques that deliver measurable business value and strong return on investment.
  • Experience overseeing complex technology platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability and system performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, working closely with stakeholders across technology and the business, providing clear reporting, risk management and commercial insight to support informed decision‑making and high‑quality customer outcomes.
