A bit about the job: As Head of Engineering Platforms, you’ll lead the performance, resilience and evolution of a portfolio of General Insurance platforms that underpin Aviva’s UK business. Sitting at the heart of a major transformation, you’ll help integrate Aviva and Direct Line technology estates, modernise platforms to the cloud and embed modern engineering and GenAI-enabled practices. You’ll be accountable for delivering secure, stable and high-performing platforms that support millions of customer interactions while driving improvements in engineering quality, speed and efficiency. Working closely with business, risk and technology partners, you’ll ensure strong operational performance while shaping future platform strategy and capability.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience leading engineering teams within large-scale, regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, application architecture and security controls including Cyber.
- Proven delivery of customer-facing and business-critical systems.
- Comfortable operating across GenAI, Agile, DevOps tools and traditional delivery models.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
What you’ll get for this role:
- National salary circa £125,000 (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications).
- Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
- Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
