Are you ready to take your underwriting career to the next level? We’re looking for a Commercial Underwriting Team Manager to lead a dynamic team based in Cardiff or Bristol. A bit about the job: As a Commercial Underwriting Team Manager, you will lead a team of underwriters in our Cardiff offer to deliver profitable growth and an excellent customer experience within our commercial business. You will play a key role in driving performance, ensuring underwriting activity meets internal standards and regulatory requirements, and maintaining strong governance across the team. You’ll be responsible for managing team workload, capability and engagement, while providing technical oversight and supporting decision making on more complex cases. Building strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders will be central to the role, alongside continuously improving processes and ways of working to enhance performance and customer outcomes.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Leadership and people skills: You are a natural leader who can inspire others, communicate clearly, listen actively and negotiate effectively.
  • Insurance experience: Previous experience leading teams within insurance, underwriting experience is preferred, though other disciplines will be considered.
  • Industry connections: You bring strong market relationships and know how to leverage them to deliver results.
  • Analytical and presentation skills: You are confident analysing risk and presenting solutions to brokers and clients.
  • Love of learning: You are curious, motivated to develop, and committed to continuous improvement both personally and professionally.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Salary of circa £60,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
  • Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
