Are you a nearly or newly qualified actuary with strong Defined Benefit pensions experience, looking to transition into the BPA space?

This is a great opportunity for someone currently working in a trustee or corporate actuarial advisory role and is ready to apply their technical expertise in a dynamic insurance environment. You don’t need prior BPA experience—just a solid understanding of DB pensions and a keen interest in de-risking solutions. Whether you’re two exams away from qualification or have been qualified a few years, we’ll support your development and offer the chance to coach junior team members in a collaborative setting.

A bit about the job:

You’ll join our Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) actuarial team, supporting the onboarding and operations teams in implementing new schemes and delivering ongoing services. The team is based in Norwich and includes a mix of qualified and part-qualified actuaries. Your role will focus on reviewing and signing off final premiums, valuations, and actuarial factors, attending trustee meetings, and providing technical input across BPA projects. You’ll also work closely with internal teams including pricing, reinsurance, legal, and risk.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Nearly or recently qualified actuary (FIA/FFA), ideally no more than two exams from qualification
  • Strong Defined Benefit pensions experience (essential)
  • Experience reviewing actuarial valuations and transfer values
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Good IT skills (VBA an advantage)

Our purpose – with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too.And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you.We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.

  • Bonus opportunity – 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
  • Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it
  • Make your money go further – Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme
