This is a great job for someone who enjoys using their engineering expertise to help people navigate complex risks and who feels confident supporting customers, colleagues and underwriters working on conventional power assets and modern energy systems.
A bit about the job:
- You’ll help our underwriters and customers understand and manage risks across a wide range of conventional power assets, from construction and commissioning through to operation.
- You’ll carry out risk surveys and provide clear, practical advice that helps people make confident decisions.
- Ongoing research into emerging risks, market trends and new technical guidance will be a key part of your work, helping us deliver sustainable risk-management support for our customers.
- You’ll also develop and share best practice across the team, supporting training and technical capability.
- With your expertise, you’ll play a central role in shaping how we manage energy risks across GCS.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience in engineering and insurance across complex process risks, including construction, commissioning and operation of conventional power assets.
- Strong knowledge of Combined Cycle and Simple Cycle gas turbines.
- Understanding of manufacturer or equipment concerns, regulatory change and broader market trends.
- Experience in Biomass or Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) is helpful.
- Knowledge of grid‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) is highly desirable.
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status and/or NEBOSH certification are desirable.
- An interest in researching emerging risks and contributing to the development of technical guidelines.
