We have a fantastic opportunity for a Surety Underwriter to join our supportive and productive team. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of business, underwriting risks whilst identifying market trends and customer needs.

A bit about the job:

As a Surety Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing and growing a profitable portfolio of business, underwriting risks in line with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and relevant legislation. You’ll work closely with brokers and customers to manage policies end-to-end, conduct audits and process reviews, and support the implementation of changes to team policies and procedures. Collaboration is key, and you’ll liaise with other teams to resolve underwriting issues and ensure smooth operations.

In this role, you’ll stay informed on industry trends and regulatory developments You’ll also contribute to various projects and initiatives, helping to drive continuous improvement. A strong focus on customer outcomes is essential.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Underwriting Expertise: Experience in underwriting Surety risks, including both new business and renewals, with a focus on the UK market
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of UK industry regulations, controls, contracts, and relevant legislation affecting Surety underwriting
  • Portfolio Management: Ability to manage a profitable portfolio of Surety business, including end-to-end policy management
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Experience working with various teams to support the Surety offering and assist in day-to-day underwriting tasks
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering good customer outcomes, ensuring actions are in good faith, and supporting customers\’ objectives
