We’re looking for a Personal Lines Underwriting Effectiveness Manager to play a pivotal role in building frontline underwriting capability, strengthening governance, and driving continuous improvement across our operation. A bit about the role:
- You will be responsible for developing underwriting capability across our Personal Lines Broker Service team, using a variety of approaches including workshops, structured training, coaching, and tailored development pathways.
- You’ll act as the custodian of Operational Underwriting Governance—defining clear principles and standards, and ensuring consistent application and compliance across the Broker Support team.
- You’ll take ownership of underwriting frameworks, user role profiles, and operational resources, ensuring our teams are aligned, informed, and equipped to perform at their best.
- Using data, insight, and operational expertise, you’ll identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance customer journeys, and support the evolution of our Personal Lines propositions.
- Working closely with stakeholders across underwriting, trading, product, claims, complaints, risk, and governance, you’ll drive collaboration, inform strategic direction, and deliver stronger, joined‑up business outcomes.
- You’ll also play a key role in delivering underwriting change initiatives and bringing new propositions to market—helping to continuously evolve and improve how we deliver underwriting excellence.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong technical knowledge of General Insurance Underwriting.
- Experience supporting or coaching others to improve technical capability and decision-making.
- A solid understanding of underwriting appetite, governance, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Confident in using data, insight, and quality findings to identify trends, drive improvements, and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels through excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, curious, and improvement‑focused individual with the ability to work independently while building strong partnerships across the business, alongside a solid understanding of key performance metrics, including financial measures, and how to achieve them.
What you’ll get for this role:
- Salary Circa £45,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
- Bonus opportunity – 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
