This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing Cloud Platform Engineering team and take on important, complex work from day one. Are you someone who works confidently across AWS and wants to broaden your experience in a cutting‑edge environment? Working in a market leading Financial Services organisation, for the benefit of millions of customers, this role puts you hands‑on with a large, dynamic cloud platform. Help us scale it, sharpen it, and serve our customers better.

A bit about the role: This is a hands‑on role where you’ll own important, complex work and see it through to the end. You’ll build, and improve our cloud services, make sound engineering decisions, and take an active part in the design and architecture of what we deliver. You’ll spot where things can be better and turn those ideas into changes that line up with Aviva’s technology priorities. You’ll be someone our more junior engineers can learn from, sharing what you know, setting a good example, and helping raise the standard for how we build in the cloud. You’ll work alongside our engineering leaders and internal customer teams to deliver technology solutions that are reliable, well‑made and useful to our internal teams. We favour cloud‑native services, and treat Infrastructure as Code as the rule, not the exception. Cloud isn’t just where we run things at Aviva, it’s how we move faster, build smarter, and deliver for millions of customers.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Solid, hands‑on experience across AWS, with Terraform, Python and Jenkins as part of your everyday toolkit.
  • An active interest in new technology, using tools like AI to sharpen how you work and deliver.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, able to articulate complex technical problems to technical and non‑technical audiences alike.
  • A track record of improving services to make them more efficient, reliable and valuable, with a growing hand in how they’re designed.
  • A security‑focused mindset, treating it as a priority in everything you build.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Starting salary Circa £60k (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity 10% – actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
  • Generous pension scheme e.g. if you put in 8%, Aviva adds 14% in.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
  • Aviva‑funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it
  • Make your money go further – up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme
  • Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave
  • Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work
  • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others
  • We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools

Aviva is for everyone: We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don’t, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares. We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working – spending at least 50% of their time in our offices every week – combining the benefits of flexibility with time together with colleagues.
