Platform Architect

Location: Norwich

Salary: Circa £70k

A bit about the job

We’re looking for a Platform Architect to help shape and improve our Bamboo policy admin system. This platform supports our Personal Lines business and plays a key role in how we serve customers.

You’ll help ensure the platform is well designed, efficient, and easy to change. You’ll work closely with engineers, product teams and architects to guide decisions and improve outcomes.

You’ll be accountable for maintaining high architectural standards and supporting delivery teams to build scalable, resilient solutions.

This role is a great opportunity if you’re looking to move into architecture or expand your impact in a strategic platform environment.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll guide design decisions across the Bamboo platform, ensuring solutions follow agreed principles and patterns. You’ll review and support technical designs for new features and changes, helping teams deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes. You’ll contribute to the platform’s long-term roadmap by identifying opportunities to simplify systems, reduce complexity, and improve performance and reliability.

You’ll provide hands‑on technical support with C#/.NET and help teams adopt modern cloud and engineering practices. Working closely with engineers, product teams and architects, you’ll communicate decisions clearly and take part in design reviews and collaborative discussions.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience with C#/.NET, API design, and modern engineering practices, with the ability to support and guide technical decisions
  • Good understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), scalable system design, and secure, resilient architectures
  • Experience contributing to system or solution design, with knowledge of approaches such as domain-driven design and distributed systems
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems, including analysing existing systems and supporting the modernisation of legacy applications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams and familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, or similar tooling

What you’ll get for this role

  • Starting salary circa £70k (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity 10% – actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
  • Generous pension scheme e.g. if you put in 8%, Aviva adds 14%
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it
  • Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme
  • Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave
  • Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work
  • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others
  • We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools
