ESG Fixed Income Analyst

A bit about the job:

This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about sustainable investing to join our ESG team and support investment performance through ESG research and integration for our Fixed Income Group.

As part of Aviva Investors — an ambitious and influential asset manager — our Fixed Income Group manages over £120bn across desks in London and Toronto. You’ll join a dedicated ESG Fixed Income team, working alongside other ESG Fixed Income analysts. The team sits within a broader ESG function that spans public and private asset classes, as well as stewardship.

Each ESG Fixed Income Analyst covers issuers in distinct sectors, aligned with the Fixed Income Group’s sector lead areas. This role focuses on the Financials and Structured Credit sector, and you will collaborate closely with experienced Fixed Income Group research colleagues in that sector team.

You’ll be responsible for producing targeted research on financially material ESG factors for the companies where they matter most, and for communicating clear, actionable views. By partnering with Fixed Income research colleagues, you will influence and enhance the robustness of our overall investment ratings.

You will also engage directly with portfolio managers by leading ESG portfolio reviews that foster shared understanding, constructive challenge, and highlight key ESG insights.

While the role does not involve direct financial decision-making or line management, you’ll play a vital part in supporting investment performance and ensuring adherence to our risk and control framework.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Experience of collaborating with investment teams and an understanding of the financial materiality of ESG factors in investment decision-making.

Knowledge of how ESG considerations can impact the outlook (ratings) for Financials and Structured Credit issuers.

Awareness and understanding of material ESG trends, investment themes, ESG-related policy and regulation, and how they can impact individual companies.

Relevant experience in engaging individually and collaboratively with companies on ESG issues to deliver investment insight and mitigate risks.

Data management skills, preferably with experience in integrating sustainability data and investment analytics into investment management processes.

Desirable:Experience of utilising technology/AI within the research process.

What you’ll get for this role:

Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in

Eligibility for annual performance bonus

Family friendly parental and carer’s leave

Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidays with the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days

Up to 40% discount for Aviva products

Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefitto help you get expert support when you need it

Brilliant flexible benefits including electric cars

Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme

21 volunteering hours per year

In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.

Aviva is for everyone:

We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don’t, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working –spending around 50% of their time in our offices every week – combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
