A bit about the job: This role exists to own, develop and govern Aviva Health's claims and underwriting philosophies, which define how policy terms are interpreted and applied in practice. You'll join a team that helps support more than 1.1 million customers and ensures fair, consistent and commercially sustainable decision-making across the health business. Working closely with Operations, Clinical, Procurement, Commercial, Pricing, Finance and Customer teams, you'll provide technical oversight and governance for claims and underwriting decisions. You'll be accountable for maintaining philosophy documentation, leading governance activity and supporting complex case escalations. Your work will help improve customer outcomes, manage risk and support the safe adoption of automation and AI-enabled decision making.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Strong technical knowledge of insurance claims, underwriting, and risk management.
  • Experience interpreting policy terms and applying consistent decision-making within a regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business areas.
  • Ability to use data, insight and performance information to support improvements and manage risk.
  • Knowledge of Health products and customer outcomes, supported by relevant insurance qualifications or equivalent experience.

  • Starting salary between £65,000-£80,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
