Data Privacy and Ethical AI Lead
Salary: Circa £90,000 depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications.
Locations: Leeds, Norwich, York, Bristol, Perth.
This role is for an experienced professional who enjoys applying legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as good practice, in a complex corporate environment.
Responsibilities
You will spearhead Aviva’s Group‑wide data privacy and ethical AI agenda, ensuring personal data is treated responsibly and AI systems and models are developed ethically. You will develop and maintain the Group’s Data Privacy and Ethical AI Frameworks, oversee operational compliance with these frameworks, scan the horizon for new developments, and engage with stakeholders across the Group to embed good practice.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of UK and European Data Privacy Legislation and Regulation including GDPR, the Data Use and Access Act, PECR, etc.
- Expert knowledge of international AI legislation and Regulation (e.g., the EU AI Act).
- Demonstrable understanding of AI systems and models – machine learning, neural networks, generative AI, agentic AI.
- Understanding of the ethical, security and safety risks associated with AI systems and models: model poisoning, model inversion, adversarial AI, and the importance of human centricity, environmental sustainability, fairness, alignment to human rights, transparency and explainability.
- Technical experience within data analytics, engineering and/or AI development is an advantage.
