Location: York or Norwich based

Are you a qualified solicitor, legal executive, or paralegal with commercial contract experience, preferably with procurement and supply chain contracts? Then this role is for you! We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. The role can be based in our Norwich or York offices. You will be part of a friendly team of experienced legal professionals where training and support is available to help develop your career and give you the tools needed to excel in this role.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive, has a can-do attitude, and is keen to develop their legal and contractual experience by advising upon and negotiating a varied range of commercial contracts (although the focus will initially be on IT contracts).

A bit about the job:

Within this role you will be acting as a legal adviser, providing first class legal services to the Aviva Group as well as monitoring and mitigating legal risks in accordance with the Group policies.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Qualified solicitor/legal executive/paralegal with commercial contract experience
  • Ability to advise upon commercial contracts and conduct third-party negotiations (including procurement and supply chain contracts)
  • Commercially pragmatic and creative problem solving
  • Experience of working for a financial services company desirable but not essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Salary around £55,000 - £65,000 - depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications
  • Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
