Are you someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and enjoys leading remote teams? This opportunity is ideal for an experienced people leader from a vehicle repair background, confident in managing performance, developing others and driving high standards across a dispersed workforce. You’ll start in a hybrid role, balancing roadside patrol duties with Team Leader responsibilities (50/50), with scope for this to evolve over time.
We’re now part of Aviva, so joining us as an Aviva colleague means you’ll be backed by the strength and support of the UK’s leading diversified insurer while enjoying one of the most attractive work-life balance offerings in the industry. With a four-day working week, no night shifts and the ability to start and finish your day from home, you’ll have more time for the things that matter outside of work.
A bit about the job:
- Deliver proactive, efficient roadside support—diagnosing, repairing and resolving vehicle issues within agreed timescales to get customers back on the road quickly and safely.
- Lead the day-to-day remote management of a patrol team, including performance, development and overall team capability.
- Drive team performance by monitoring, reporting and acting on key operational and sustainability metrics.
- Identify and maximise roadside repair and revenue opportunities while supporting customer needs and cost targets.
- Ensure safe working practices, compliance, safeguarding and fleet standards are consistently upheld across the team.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Relevant experience and qualifications within the vehicle repair industry (Level 3 or equivalent), with eligibility to meet insurance requirements (age 21+).
- Proven ability to coach and develop individuals, providing structured feedback to support performance and capability growth.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business strategy into clear direction and priorities for your team.
- Effective collaborator, able to build relationships across teams to improve customer outcomes and operational performance.
- Good understanding of risk, governance and HR policies, ensuring compliance within an operational environment.
This is a permanent, field‑based role where you start and finish your day from home. You’ll work 40 hours across four days a week, with shifts between 7am–8pm, Monday to Sunday. While work is planned within these hours, finish times may vary depending on the job at hand. Overtime is available, but completely optional.
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary of £42,840.
- Bonus opportunity - actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's.
- Generous pension scheme - eg. if you put in 8%, Aviva adds 14%.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
- Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it.
- Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts.
- Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme.
- Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave.
- Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work.
- Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others.
- We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools.
Aviva is for Everyone. We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box?
