AI Model Risk & Governance Lead – Salary c. £90,000 to c. £120,000

Locations – UK Flexible (Excluding London)

Are you someone who enjoys challenging complex models and helping organisations use data, analytics and AI responsibly?

This is a great opportunity for an experienced quantitative professional with a strong background in model validation, model risk management or independent model review. You'll bring expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning or AI models and enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders to provide insightful challenge and oversight. Qualified actuaries or professionals with equivalent quantitative and risk management experience would be particularly well suited to this role.

A bit about the job:

You’ll join Aviva's Group model validation centre of excellence team, helping to provide independent oversight and assurance across a broad range of business-critical models. The role focuses on the validation and review of advanced analytics and AI models, including pricing, reserving, customer segmentation and productivity-enhancing solutions.

Working alongside model owners, risk specialists and senior stakeholders across the business, you’ll assess model performance, governance and regulatory compliance, delivering independent challenge and supporting effective model risk management. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of validation tools, methodologies and challenger models, helping strengthen Aviva's approach to overseeing emerging analytics and AI capabilities.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Significant experience in model validation, model risk management, model review or quantitative risk roles.

• Strong knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning and AI models, including experience providing independent challenge and oversight.

• Ability to analyse complex quantitative methods and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience building effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams, including risk, analytics, technology and business functions.

• Qualified actuary or equivalent quantitative professional experience would be highly desirable. Knowledge of Solvency UK requirements and capital modelling would be beneficial.

• Starting salary between c. £90,000 and c. £120,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
