Business Development Director – D2C, Retail Platforms and Fintech

A bit about the job:
We are looking for a Business Development Director to join the Aviva Investors Wealth Team to drive growth and expansion in the Direct Wealth Business within Aviva Wealth as well with externally with emerging fintech and D2C platforms. You will work closely with the Direct Wealth team by supporting their ambitions to grow their business ensuring Aviva Investors can support their investment and client engagement needs. Additionally, having strong market knowledge the role will ensure you see opportunities for Aviva Investors for emerging retail platforms. This role involves proactively engaging with partners to understand their investment needs, identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships to expand distribution reach, and staying ahead of market trends to inform new proposition development. You’ll support marketing and client engagement initiatives, contribute to digital distribution growth with external insights, and tailor investment support to diverse client journeys. The position also includes managing day-to-day queries, sponsoring client-focused projects such as new product development, and taking ownership of business initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience of business development, sales, partnerships, commercial strategy within asset management, fintech or financial services.
- Strong understanding of retail products and UK regulatory investment and advice landscape.
- Demonstrated success in driving D2C or B2B2C distribution models.
- IMC or equivalent; CFA qualification desirable
- Familiarity and experience with UK Wealth industry and products

In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.
