Role and Location
The successful candidate will join Avison Young\’s Bristol office Business Rates Team and will work alongside senior colleagues, supporting and growing client portfolios in business rates valuation and mitigation for non-domestic properties. The role may suit a soon-to-be qualified surveyor.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Advice – Business rates advice and mitigation
- Business Development – build on our existing client base
- Negotiating with Billing Authorities and Valuation Officers
- Working closely with the rating team and Avison Young colleagues across the business

- Understanding of Rating Valuations (Contractors Test, Comparative method, Receipts & Expenditure)
- Understanding of Billing Authority procedures, Rating Statute and Legislation
- Understanding of “Check, Challenge and Appeal” processes
- Experience in review of valuations and submission of Checks, Challenges and Appeals to Valuation Tribunal
- Negotiation to deliver outcomes and fees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- MRICS qualification or approaching qualification
