Responsibilities
- To undertake planning appraisals to advise clients on the likelihood of obtaining planning consent and the most appropriate strategy for achieving that.
- To manage research and analytical tasks and produce client-facing reports.
- To support the identification and implementation of a strategy for each project that meets the client’s objectives.
- To manage project teams (typically comprising of architects and other consultants) in the delivery of robust, timely outputs that comply with the project strategy.
- To prepare planning applications, including drafting Planning Statements and Statements of Community Involvement.
- To manage planning applications, including negotiation of conditions and planning obligations.
- To prepare representations to local plan and other policy consultations on behalf of clients.
- To research, prepare and submit appeals against refusals of planning consent.
- To research and assist in the preparation of proofs of evidence for senior staff standing as expert witness at planning inquiries.
- To generally meet targets for fee earning from the delivery of project work.
- To help write tender proposals to win new project work.
- To help with business generation ideas and client research.
- To work either as part of a team or independently as required.

Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials
- Be a chartered member of the RTPI
- Have at least 6 years’ professional experience, with some of that experience ideally being in a planning consultancy (although this is not essential)
- Have a genuine passion for planning
- Be driven, ambitious, commercial and great at building / maintaining relationships
- Demonstrable evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrable evidence of strong analytical skills
- Evidence of good project management, prioritisation and time-management skills
