UK Statutory and Compliance Accountant role at Avis Budget Group. Location: Bracknell (minimum 3 days in office). Department: Finance. Reports To: UK Finance Manager.
About The Role
We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) to join our UK Finance team. This key role supports the UK Finance Manager in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements, with a strong focus on statutory compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements (SOx, US GAAP, UK GAAP, HMRC). The ideal candidate will bring a strong practice background and a hands-on approach to financial statement preparation, compliance, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in accordance with FRS 102.
- Reconcile US GAAP to UK GAAP for statutory reporting.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and manage related payments.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC Making Tax Digital requirements; support automation tools like Alteryx.
- Prepare and submit returns to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
- Support SOx compliance activities, including internal control testing and documentation.
- Liaise with external auditors on statutory and tax-related matters.
- Collaborate with the International Tax team and respond to HMRC queries.
- Assist with the monthly close process, including P&L commentary and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor changes in UK GAAP and support ad hoc finance projects and initiatives.
