The Opportunity

Join our Data Products team, working closely with value-stream aligned teams to drive success across Commercial, Customer, Finance, and Product domains. Our mission is to centralise and optimise data, delivering powerful solutions that enhance performance and decision-making. As an Analytics Engineer within the Commercial & Marketing analytics team, you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming raw CRM and Commercial data within our Snowflake data warehouse into actionable insights.

What You’ll Get Up To

  1. Capability Building: Support business analysts in transitioning to an engineering mindset, fostering a shift from purely analytical approaches to data engineering best practices.
  2. Data Modeling & Transformation: Collaborate with the Commercial & Marketing analytics team to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Design and build scalable, efficient data models to support strategic insights, leveraging SQLMesh for robust ETL processes.
  3. Self-Service & Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation and frameworks, such as data dictionaries and workshop guides, to empower business-wide self-service capabilities.
  4. Data Quality & Monitoring: Enhance data quality by expanding tools for monitoring, testing, and ensuring SQL model performance across all analytics functions. Actively contribute to scalable data solutions, optimising data availability and quality within IAG Loyalty to meet evolving business needs.
  5. Industry Trends: Stay updated on emerging trends in data engineering, incorporating best practices that advance team capability and data quality standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. SQL & Python Proficiency: Strong SQL skills, complemented by experience with Python for enhanced data transformation and modeling; experience with ETL tools and Git version control systems (GitHub or Bitbucket).
  2. Pipeline Development: Ability to design and build scalable data pipelines, with hands-on experience using ETL tools for data transformation.
  3. Analytical to Engineering Mindset: Background in data analysis, with a keen understanding of the transition to engineering-focused data solutions.
  4. Data Journey Understanding: Knowledge of the full data journey, from ingestion and data modelling to visualisation and analysis; Snowflake & AWS experience advantageous but not essential.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Skilled in working with diverse stakeholders; excellent communication, collaboration, and attention to detail.

The role has a blended base, between our Central London office and home. We trust you to make the right decision about the type of work that is best done in each location. We expect you’ll achieve a 50/50 split between the two and there may be times where you’ll want to visit our other locations to tell their stories, too (fully reimbursed).

We might not be right for you if:

  1. You only want to focus on your to-do list; we’re a small, high-performing team, we help each other to succeed.
  2. You value perfection over fast iteration and progress; IAG Loyalty moves fast, we learn and iterate as we go; our environment isn’t right for everyone.
  3. You’re looking to create but not build; this is an end-to-end role, you need to be comfortable owning your space, from ideation through to delivery and review.

If you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every single point above, please do still apply. We’d love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.

In return you’ll get perks that take you places:

  1. Access to non-contractual Annual Bookable Travel Concessions for you and up to 3 nominees.
  2. Unlimited standby and premium standby fares for you and your nominees on the full British Airways network and numerous other partner airlines from day one.
  3. 20 days working from abroad in Europe per annum.
  4. Annual Bonus (dependent on company and individual performance).
  5. Company pension of 9% (6% contribution from IAGL, 3% employee contribution).
  6. 25 days annual leave, + 2 days charity leave and a day off on your birthday.
  7. New joiner, birthday and recognition Avios.
