Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation and review of statutory financial statements for UK entities.
- Assist with period-end and year-end close activities.
- Ensure accounting records comply with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Work closely with the wider statutory accounting team to maintain a high standard of financial reporting.
- Corporate Tax
- Prepare and review corporate tax calculations and returns in collaboration with external advisors.
- Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions.
- Calculate and post current and deferred tax provisions.
- Support tax forecasting and effective tax rate analysis.
- Manage group relief calculations and related tax adjustments.
- Assist with Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR) compliance.
- Coordinate and support Research & Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) claims.
- Support PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSA) and other UK tax reporting obligations.
- Monitor changes in UK tax legislation and assess impacts on the business.
- VAT & indirect tax
- Prepare and review VAT returns and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UK VAT regulations and reporting requirements.
- Support VAT audits and respond to queries from advisors and tax authorities.
- Preparation and follow up for indirect tax.
- Audit & Compliance
- Act as a key contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
- Prepare audit support schedules and respond to audit queries.
- Review tax computations prepared by external advisors.
- Ensure all statutory and tax filing deadlines are met.
- Support internal control and compliance initiatives.
- Team Support & Development
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to two members of the statutory accounting team.
- Contribute to process improvements, standardisation, and automation initiatives.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
- Strong background in both accounting and UK taxation.
- Experience with corporate tax compliance and tax provisioning.
- Good understanding of deferred tax accounting.
- Experience preparing or reviewing VAT returns.
- Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
