Waste and Recycling experience is desirable. Pay Rate: £36,951.25. Grade: M. Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time). Shift patterns: 4 on, 4 off – 18:00-06:00. Location: Gatwick Airport. PLEASE NOTE: This role will be based at the Recycling Centre with Gatwick Airport. You will be required to undergo a security/background check if you are to be successful for this position.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

  • Implement actions as directed to reduce or eliminate health and safety related risks.
  • Implement Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) program on a daily basis to confirm behaviours and processes are followed as specified.
  • Report and investigate incidents within the workplace and respond to or escalate non-compliance to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are put in place.
  • Ensure that all drivers are following the correct transport procedures and that defects are reported promptly.
  • Communicate all relevant DHL policies/site documents to frontline colleagues and monitor their implementation regularly.
  • Support the Site Lead & H&S Manager in managing the DHL Safety arrangements for the site, including the understanding and detailing of the safety arrangements, implementing best practices, and managing them across the site.
  • Manage day-to-day shift performance, maintaining a clear understanding of objectives/KPIs applicable to your role/shift/site, including achievement of agreed customer KPIs and internal KPIs (e.g., safety, operational, employee related).
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Communicate productivity expectations to your team, ensuring clarity of expectations – including communication to new hires.
  • Secure a clear understanding of Roles & Responsibilities applicable to your role and to your team.
  • Assist management with resource planning and rota creation, including addressing gaps, holiday cover, implementing performance review processes, monitoring absence and sickness, and addressing issues within clear guidelines.
  • Identify and elevate training and qualification gaps through regular one-to-one sessions with your team and escalation to the training department.
  • Participate in regular operation reviews and conduct colleague briefings via Performance Dialogue boards.
  • Ensure colleagues register indirect hours properly, checking pending approvals in Smart Time.
  • Track employee attendance at the individual level, indicate deviations, update the resource planning tool as needed and manage accordingly.
  • Contribute to performance tracking improvement by sharing opportunities of Standard Productivity Rate review with line manager.
  • Conduct performance reviews and coaching with all direct reports, recommending performance ratings to management.
  • Support the Site Lead in reviewing Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for the site, detailing best practices and deviations that may occur during process execution.
  • Ensure colleagues are properly trained on the established training matrix for each position, including onboarding trainings for new hires.

SECURITY PROCESS TO WORK WITHIN AVIATION AND TRAVEL AT DHL

  • Be able to provide five years’ address history.
  • Be able to provide five years’ reference history (employment/education/benefit claim/character).
  • To obtain a full airside ID.
