  • Standard Days: £22.87 PAYE / £30.40 Umbrella
  • Double Days: £26.19 PAYE / £34.81 Umbrella

What does the role look like?

You’ll be responsible for evaluating, assembling, stripping, rebuilding and testing mechanical units and sub‑assemblies in line with technical drawings, process plans, Component Maintenance Manuals and Product Acceptance Test schedules. The work is hands‑on, accuracy‑driven and carried out in a quality‑focused manufacturing environment.

What will your day‑to‑day responsibilities look like?

  • Evaluate, strip, assemble and test units and sub‑assemblies using mechanical and some electrical techniques
  • Work from engineering drawings, process plans and acceptance test schedules
  • Carry out functional testing using calibrated test equipment and accurately record results
  • Apply metrology principles using manual and digital measuring equipment (micrometres, depth micrometres, etc.)
  • Support hydraulic assembly, testing and fault diagnosis activities
  • Perform fault finding during assembly and test phases
  • Assess manufactured features for conformance and report non‑conformances
  • Adhere strictly to quality procedures and manufacturing standards
  • Participate in investigations, Lean events and continuous improvement activities
  • Support stock control systems where required
  • Safely transport tools, materials and equipment
  • Work flexibly within the team to support production objectives

Essential Skills:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electro‑Mechanical or Engineering discipline (allied trades considered)
  • Strong mechanical assembly experience within a precision manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of hydraulic systems and mechanical actuation principles
  • Experience working from detailed engineering drawings and process documentation
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment (micrometres, depth gauges, etc.)
  • Experience working within a regulated Aerospace / Defence environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and within a team

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience assembling and testing actuation or hydraulic systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and basic electrical schematics
  • Fault‑finding and diagnostic experience
  • Flexible, calm and proactive approach within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
