Overview
As an unlicensed Aircraft Engineer, you will support aircraft maintenance activities in strict compliance with technical documentation and company procedures. Military engineering, mechanical, ground crew, REME, RAF, Navy, or aviation support experience is highly transferable to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out aircraft maintenance tasks under the direction of the Hangar Foreman and engineering leads
- Work safely alongside team members to maintain operational standards
- Move equipment, tooling, and spares (forklift training provided)
- Assist with aircraft cleaning and hangar housekeeping
- Service aircraft toilets during maintenance operations
- Manage fuel and oil spillages safely and professionally
- Support aircraft manoeuvring activities
- Follow waste separation and recycling procedures
- Maintain equipment and vehicles in safe working condition
- Charge and service lifting equipment batteries
- Report hazards and safety concerns immediately
- Recommend safety and efficiency improvements
- Support wider hangar team duties as required
Ideal Background
- Ex-military engineering, mechanical, or technical trade background
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent vocational qualification
- Experience working in disciplined, safety-critical environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work
- Aviation or aerodrome experience desirable but not essential
