Build Aircraft Structures in Nottingham

Morson Edge is looking for Assembly Fitters to join an established aerospace manufacturing operation based in Nottingham.

This is a hands‑on manufacturing opportunity working on aircraft structures and assemblies, using engineering drawings, jigs, fixtures and specialist tooling to produce components to exacting aerospace standards.

There are opportunities across different assembly areas. Depending on your experience, work can range from precision bench assembly through to the production of larger aircraft wing structures. The supplied specifications cover both wing‑structure assembly and broader A350 assembly work.

The Role

You’ll work as part of an experienced manufacturing team, assembling aircraft components from drawings, specifications, standard working practices and visual instructions.

Typical Activities Can Include

  • Drilling and countersinking
  • Riveting and fitting specialist fasteners
  • Working with jigs and fixtures
  • Bench fitting and component assembly
  • Operating pneumatic and bench‑top tools
  • Press fitting using hydraulic and fly presses
  • Filing and deburring
  • Applying sealants and surface treatments
  • Torque tightening fasteners
  • Setting components accurately within jigs
  • Carrying out basic measuring and inspection activities
  • Maintaining accurate production and traceability records
  • Working to strict safety and quality requirements

The A350 specification also includes bush spinning, bonding and over‑sealing, low-level self‑inspection and some semi‑skilled sheet‑metal work.

What We're Looking For

We’re particularly interested in people with practical assembly or engineering experience.

Previous aerospace experience would be advantageous, but it isn't the only background that will be considered. The MRS specification explicitly states that other engineering and assembly experience can be considered, with job‑specific training provided to successful candidates.

You could be a good match if you've previously worked as an:

  • Assembly Fitter
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Aircraft Fitter
  • Engineering Assembler
  • Manufacturing Fitter
  • CNC Machinist with assembly experience
  • Sheet Metal / Fabrication operative with fitting experience

Experience reading engineering drawings, manual drilling, deburring, using jigs and fixtures, sealants, fasteners or measuring equipment would be particularly useful.

If you have hands‑on engineering or assembly experience and would like the opportunity to move into or continue your career within aerospace manufacturing, we'd like to hear from you.

Hours: 39 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday–Thursday 07:00–16:00 / Friday 07:00–12:00

Parking: Free on-site parking
