We are seeking an Ornithologist to join our expanding team. You will play a key role in delivering ornithological surveys, data analysis, and reporting for a range of projects, including renewable energy schemes and commercial developments. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise and contribute to impactful conservation work, while working closely with senior team members. The successful candidate will be based in our Lower Stretton (near Warrington) office.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake bird surveys (e.g., perspective point, transect, breeding bird surveys) and habitat assessments.
- Analyse survey data and prepare clear, accurate technical reports.
- Assist in ecological impact assessments and contribute to technical appendices.
- Support project delivery by liaising with clients and stakeholders under guidance from senior staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice standards.
- Occasionally assist with mentoring junior team members and coordinating fieldwork logistics.
- Degree in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Experience in ornithological surveys and reporting within consultancy or similar environment.
- Strong identification skills for UK bird species (visual and auditory).
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and survey guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
- Experience with GIS mapping and data presentation.
- Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
- Understanding of wider ecological principles and multidisciplinary projects.
