The Company: At AviadoBio our mission is to transform the lives of people living with neurodegenerative disorders by developing and delivering transformative gene therapies for diseases including frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The company's technology is based on pioneering research of Professor Christopher Shaw, Professor of Neurology and Neurogenetics, Kings College London, with the support of UK Dementia Research Institute. With support from leading life science investors, our experienced and talented team is poised to make a meaningful impact on people living with neurodegenerative disease.

This summer, join our Vector Sciences department and gain real scientific and industry experience in a company developing transformative treatments for neurodegenerative disease. You'll be working alongside scientists on the optimisation of vector production and purification, allowing the team to expedite screening of new candidate viral vectors, picking up a broad range of laboratory and analytical skills along the way.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaboration: Working alongside scientists in the Vector Sciences team to facilitate both upstream and downstream rAAV vector production to fulfil the requirements of in vitro studies.
  • Lab work: Get hands-on experience working, planning and executing experiments and exploring what the data reveals.
  • Data and presentation: Exhibit strong data analysis skills by utilising the right statistical methods as necessary, and showcasing your findings. Your work will genuinely inform ongoing research.
  • Industry Best Practise: Maintaining detailed documentation and keeping laboratory notebooks and quality systems that support data integrity, safeguarding intellectual property, and ensuring we follow all regulations.

Additional Information

  • Location: Our London office and lab at Canary Wharf
  • Duration: A full-time 3-month paid Internship
  • Start Date: Mid-June to early July 2026
  • Currently studying towards a degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical science, or a related field.
  • Some experience of mammalian tissue culture and Molecular Biology would be beneficial.
  • An understanding of analytical techniques, such as Western blot, qPCR and ELISA, as well as data analysis would be beneficial.
  • Experience in laboratory environments and techniques such as pipetting and buffer preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to present data and engage in critical analysis of technical topics.
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in gene therapy or rare disease research.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
