Ascend Airways operate a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market and opened its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is founded on the legacy of Synergy Aviation, a respected UK AOC holder, which has been acquired by Avia Solutions Group, already the world's largest ACMI provider with over 200 airliners in operation.
The Operations Control Officer (OCO) is a key part of our Operations Control Centre (OCC). It’s a role for someone who can work confidently on their own but also enjoys being part of a supportive team. As an OCO, you’ll help keep our operations running smoothly by handling things like flight planning and monitoring, crew paperwork and support, and communicating with different teams across the business.
You’ll have the authority to make important decisions that help ensure our aircraft operate safely and efficiently. We’re looking for someone who really understands how an airline ticks, has great problem-solving skills, pays close attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities- Monitoring of the company flying programme ensuring conformity to the companies operational control procedures.
- Management of operational flight plans, including ATC & procurement of airfield slots.
- Monitoring operational threats; meteorology, industrial action, curfews etc.
- Ensuring efficient communication with both internal departments and external providers.
- Maximising aircraft and crew resources.
- Supporting with administration of crew rosters.
- Aiding new team members and provision of coaching in a 'live' environment.
- Commercial and Flight Operations support, production of statistical information for key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes and systems.
- Cost control.
- Experience in a busy, fast-paced Operational Control environment is preferred but not essential, however an aviation background is required.
- Good appreciation of Flight Time Limitations and aircrew roster construction (preferred but not essential).
- Proficiency with operations control and safety management software, strong MS product skills.
- Familiarity with Emergency and Incident Response procedures.
- Strong numerical / analytical skills.
- Environmental acumen.
- Completion of a formal aviation training course would be advantageous.
