Location: London, UK - Hybrid (50% working time at the office)
Employment Type: Full-time permanent
The job involves delivering decision-grade market and competitive intelligence for strategic planning, GTM priorities, and the highest-value strategic pursuits. You will partner closely with leaders across Corporate Strategy, Sales, Marketing, and ABM to turn market shifts into clear where-to-play / how-to-win choices and field-ready guidance.
You are a highly organised self-starter and builder who thrives in a fast-moving, matrixed environment and can build credible domain context across industrial software markets including Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Metals/Mining/Minerals (MMM), Power, EPC, Marine, and Life Sciences. You will lead complex intelligence initiatives—from anticipatory market tracking and competitor deep dives to strategic pursuit enablement—delivering crisp, executive-ready narratives grounded in evidence and clear recommendations.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic planning & GTM intelligence: Own intelligence that informs strategic planning, GTM strategy, and portfolio priorities—translating market signals into where-to-play / how-to-win recommendations.
- Horizon scanning & strategic alignment: Track and interpret market shifts including M&A, spin-offs, partnerships, ecosystem moves, new entrants, and competitive disruption, connecting implications to AVEVA’s strategic GTM options.
- Regional marketing & sales: Bring competitive and market intelligence into regional strategies and priority market choices—supporting senior regional leaders with decision-grade intelligence for planning and major plays.
- Strategic pursuits & ABM: Deliver intelligence support for AVEVA’s highest-value deals and enterprise pursuits, including account landscapes, competitor presence, differentiation angles, objection handling, and evidence-based proof points that shape the pitch.
- Strategic and GTM positioning: Strengthen positioning that anchors brand campaigns and sales narratives, informed by market/competitive intelligence and analyst insight.
- Program development: Build and mature the intelligence organisation’s programs and capabilities: repeatable strategic outputs, operating rhythm, standards, and scalable processes.
- Quality assurance & AI governance: Own quality control for intelligence outputs reaching executives, programs, and deal teams—ensuring accuracy, sourcing, relevance, and message alignment.
- Intelligence standards & output governance: Set standards for decision-grade intelligence outputs: sourcing expectations, confidence levels, refresh cadence for priority topics, and escalation paths for sensitive competitive claims.
Essential requirements
- Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in strategic/competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy & insights, strategic marketing, or related analytical roles—ideally in B2B enterprise software / industrial software.
- Demonstrated success operating as a senior, hands-on Individual Contributor, influencing executives and shaping GTM and pursuit decisions without people management.
- Strong exposure to (or proven ability to quickly master) industrial markets including Chemicals, Oil & Gas, MMM, Power, EPC, Marine, and/or Life Sciences.
- Ability to connect disparate signals into a clear narrative: implications, options, trade-offs, and recommended actions.
- Strong qualitative + quantitative comfort (research synthesis plus data/tools fluency).
- Exceptional ability to distil complexity into crisp executive-ready materials and facilitate decision-making conversations (PowerPoint excellence essential).
- Experience with intelligence and GTM tools (e.g., Crayon, IIR, EIC, Relevance AI, Salesforce, Demandbase, Gainsight, Power BI) is beneficial, combined with disciplined source management and QA.
- Highly autonomous self-starter; strong prioritisation and program-building mindset.
- Able to influence in matrixed global environments; strong stakeholder management skills and good commercial judgment.
