The Compliance Manager supports the Head of Compliance/SMF16 in operating an effective compliance framework across regulated insurance intermediary activities. The role is primarily second-line oversight, responsible for delivering the compliance monitoring plan, maintaining key compliance policies and controls, supporting regulatory change implementation, and producing high-quality MI and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Execute and maintain a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP).
- Provide compliance oversight support across distribution, customer communications/financial promotions, complaints, claims-related conduct oversight, product governance, and outsourcing/third parties.
- Support the embedding of Consumer Duty outcomes monitoring and evidence.
- Assist in maintaining SMCR governance hygiene (Conduct Rules training governance support, SoRs/maps support as required).
- Help ensure robust breach/incident management, action tracking, and evidence retention.
Required Skills
- Deliver monitoring activity in line with the CMP, including planning, testing, sampling, and documentation.
- Produce clear monitoring outputs: findings, root cause, risk rating, remediation actions, owners, and deadlines.
- Track remediation through to completion; elevate to the Head of Compliance for overdue/high-risk actions.
- Maintain monitoring workpapers and evidence in a manner fit for audit/regulator review.
