Shift Details: 7.00 AM - 15.00 PM and 11.30 PM - 19.30 PM

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant at Elton House Care Home in Watford, you will support the catering function in food preparation and maintain a clean environment for safe production of beverages and meals.

Your work will ensure a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.

Responsibilities

  • Support the catering function in food preparation and maintain a clean environment for safe production of beverages and meals.
  • Understand the principles of safe food handling, ensuring all food preparation in the kitchen meets the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contribute fully to team working, respond positively to colleagues and act on all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
  • Act with respect towards residents and their visitors, honoring the dignity and individuality of each resident.

About You

  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Have knowledge of Health and Safety, specifically Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be an efficient worker capable of sustained physical effort and able to respond to a demanding workload.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a positive, flexible attitude towards team working.
  • Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards residents.
