About the role

As our Commissioning General Manager, you will lead the home through commissioning, opening and ongoing operation.

You'll shape the culture, build a high-performing team, and establish the home as a trusted part of the local community.

Combining strong leadership with commercial awareness and a passion for quality care, you'll ensure residents, families and colleagues experience excellence from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the successful commissioning, launch and performance of the home, delivering outstanding care and resident experiences.
  • Recruit, develop and inspire a high-performing team, creating a positive and supportive culture.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals and local stakeholders to drive reputation and occupancy.
  • Take ownership of financial, operational and regulatory performance, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement and best practice across all areas of the home.
  • Work closely with Avery's support teams to establish the home as a leading care community.
  • Lead the home beyond commissioning, ensuring continued growth, operational excellence and the delivery of exceptional resident experiences as the service matures.

About You

  • Have experience as a Registered Manager, General Manager or Home Manager within a care home setting.
  • Have commissioning experience or a proven track record of significantly increasing occupancy and improving service performance.
  • Hold a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Possess commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and business performance.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be confident engaging with residents, families, colleagues and external partners.
  • Be resilient, adaptable and able to thrive in a commissioning environment.
  • Be committed to delivering outstanding resident experiences.
