This is a temporary Housekeeping Assistant role at Merlin Court Care Home in Marlborough, part of the Avery Healthcare group. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and laundry standards in the care home, and treating residents with dignity and respect.
Main duties of the job
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will work as part of a team to ensure all cleaning and laundry standards are met in the care home. This includes carrying out cleaning duties, understanding how to clean different surfaces and materials, and respecting the personal space and belongings of the residents. You will need knowledge of health and safety, moving and handling, fire safety, and COSHH assessments, as well as experience of cleaning laundry in a public setting. The role requires compassion, commitment to quality service, and the ability to be flexible and adaptive.

Job responsibilities
Your focus as a Housekeeping Assistant will be to work as part of a team, ensuring that all standards of cleanliness and laundry are maintained in the home. You will operate according to our standard operating procedures for housekeeping and laundry, ensuring that hotel service standards are maintained.
- Carrying out all cleaning duties in accordance with worksheet instructions.
- Understanding the cleaning requirements of different surfaces and coverings and the properties of cleaning materials, ensuring that all areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.
- Ensuring that all residents are treated with dignity and respect and that their personal space and belongings are always respected.

- Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
- Experience of cleaning laundry in a public setting.

- The ability to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
