Main duties of the job
The Wellbeing and Activities Assistant role at Avery Healthcare involves supporting residents in a care home environment located at Wimbledon Common in London. The role is focused on engaging and stimulating the residents’ physical, cognitive, and social well‑being through various activities. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and positive environment, reporting any changes in residents’ conditions, preparing supplies for activities, and establishing community links to encourage resident interaction.
Job responsibilities
- Support the Wellbeing Coordinator in providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the residents’ physical, cognitive, and social well‑being.
- Maintain a safe living and working environment and contribute to the positive and professional image of the home.
- Report any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator, Home Manager, and care staff.
- Order and prepare supplies for upcoming activities as directed.
- Establish links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries) to encourage access to the wider community and promote intergenerational activity.

- ADBDS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.

Person Specification
To be successful, candidates must have effective verbal and written communication skills, an understanding of the role of interaction in well‑being, a positive attitude towards older people, and have previously worked with older people in a residential nursing dementia setting.
