Overview
We are a leading provider of luxury elderly care homes and seek a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support the catering function at Chorleywood Manor Care Home, Hertfordshire.
Job responsibilities
As a Kitchen Assistant you will support food preparation, maintain a clean environment for safe production of beverages and meals, and ensure a high‑quality service is delivered to residents.
- Understand principles of safe food handling and uphold hygiene standards.
- Contribute fully to team working, respond positively to colleagues, and act on reasonable work instructions promptly.
- Advise on the supply and quality of items used, ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
- Act with respect toward residents and their visitors, safeguarding dignity and individuality.
About you
You will live our values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful and accountable in all that you do.
- Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Demonstrate high standards of personal hygiene.
- Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
- Be an efficient worker capable of sustained physical effort and able to respond to a demanding workload.
- Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and a positive team‑working attitude.
- Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude toward residents.
Requirements
- DBS Disclosure check (cost covered by the company).
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
