At Avery Healthcare, we support the people who care for our residents. The Housekeeping Assistant will work as part of a team to maintain the cleanliness and laundry standards at Highcliffe Care Home in Sunderland. The role is essential to ensuring a safe, tidy, and resident‑friendly environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out all cleaning duties in accordance with worksheet instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Understand cleaning requirements for different surfaces and the properties of cleaning materials.
  • Ensure all areas are well presented, maintained, and in compliance with hotel service standards.
  • Treat residents with dignity, respect personal space, and respect resident belongings.
  • Cover a range of responsibilities at short notice and adapt to changing duties.

About You

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, especially Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
  • Experience cleaning laundry in a public setting.
  • Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high‑quality housekeeping/laundry service for residents.
  • Adaptable and flexible in covering multiple duties on short notice.

Additional Requirements

  • DBS Disclosure check – the cost will be met by Avery Healthcare.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
