About the Role

The Kitchen Assistant at Avery Healthcare supports the catering function in food preparation and maintains a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring high quality service is delivered to residents. Responsibilities

  • Prepare food and beverages, adhering to safe food handling principles and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork, responding positively to colleagues and acting promptly on reasonable work instructions.
  • Advise on the supply and quality of items used, ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
  • Behave respectfully towards residents and their visitors, upholding each individual’s dignity and individuality.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in line with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high personal hygiene standards.
  • Have knowledge of Health & Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be an efficient worker capable of sustained physical effort and respond to a demanding workload.
  • Show initiative, flexibility and a positive attitude towards team working.
  • Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

  • DBS Disclosure check – cost covered by Avery Healthcare.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
